It worked well for us Brits, as Gordini had far more resonance anyway. The former is the smallest, and cheapest, mass produced turbocharged car on the market while the latter is a rod-engined "homologation special" built to enable Renault to be competitive in International Rallying. As Georg says this one is the GT turbo (same engine capacity placed at the front, front wheel drive, carburettor).
The car was primarily designed for rallying, but was also sold in a street version.
